Sure you’ve been in need.  So who did you call on when you needed that help? Your mother or father? A relative? Your best friend? Neighbour maybe? Lucky you had such people to call.
Imagine being sexually abused with no one to turn to.  No shoulder to cry on. Also being an orphan without family to ask help from in difficult situations or generally not having any family to turn to for just a heart to heart conversation. The value of family cannot be inscribed on a paper.  Now quit imagining. What do you think would happen to you? Would you cope with such a situation?
That’s why the Mary Faith Children’s home visit is not only charity visit. It’s spreading the love that one has for the kids. It’s a choice to offer that which you have in abundance. Lets avoid the notion that charity has everything to do with money .It’s important to sustain them but It might be a simple smile, a hug or just playing with such a child that will make a difference in that child’s life .So on 26th November 2016,we invite you to take the choice of offering what you have in abundance. Money, foodstuffs, clothes, talent and anything else that would put a smile on the face of this children.
*LETS MAKE THEM SMILE

Brutal Spillage.

A week ago I talked about love, what it really means to care.   This week I want to look at the other side of love; when love and care isn’t ruling what is? Case study police brutality .
Multimedia University of Kenya students were angered after one of our students was involved in an accident taking her life in her prime teen .A first year who had spent counted days on campus. Holding a vigil  was not enough. Onto the streets  we went peacefully demonstrating . In the midst of the protest appeared police who maintained disorder this time. Before we knew bullets were hurled at us. Edwin Nyamweya was a victim  having been shot on his left thigh and admitted in hospital for surgery. Police brutality has been a common occurrence during demonstration and its time they devised new ways of managing such crowds. In chapter four –The bill of rights-part 2 rights and fundamental freedom of the Kenyan constitution, every person has the right, peaceably and unarmed, to assemble, to demonstrate, to picket, and to present petitions to public authorities.
Therefore its high time that law enforcers recognize that this right exists and there is absolutely no need to open- up live ammunition on students. For any law enforcer who tries this cruel act they should first realize that life is not theirs to take. Have some love towards fellow human dear police office.

Social media,good or bad??

Facebook, twitter,Instagram, snap chat, telegram, pin crest all those are just a tip of the iceberg of social media.Social media has grown to greater levels .I remember having my first Facebook account in class 8 courtesy of my  father. It was a new experience.Later on having a Facebook account was not enough i had to open more, twitter,Instagram and whats app messenger. My social life took a different turn suddenly i could reach out to everyone and so would other people to me.Everyone nowadays has a certain social network.Social media has a way of invading ones life and  becoming part of it.Question is how have you decided to use it.Positively or negatively. To loose or  gain.

Social medial has  the power to earn one a living, advertising is not limited if i want to sell something all i need is a picture and internet access and the market will   get to see it.Interestingly is the sale of talent is also done on social media. You tube has chances for any material whatsoever talk music, acting, live shows, and any other form of talent that can be sold.Lets not’ sit’ on our talents.Very vital is the simple meaning of what you post online.Does it inspire whoever reads it,most times people do not think about the weight a comment posses. The word of mouth has the power to create or destroy.

Next time you log on to a social media platform, don’t think about posting something that does not have a positive effect, take a second chance and make a better choice.Make the best out of good.

LOVE is found to be the most misused word .Not that its just  a lame word that  it doesnt carry a lot of meaning. It actually has a lot of ‘weight’ in it.Do you say it more often ?Do you really mean it?Do you ever say it with utmost sincerity? If you do not,you probably should  lay all your cards on the flow and find out which one is wrongly placed.

The true meaning of the word love is defined as an intense feeling of deep affection towards a person or thing. In my circle of friends i have become more cautious on who i say “i love you too” to.Most times its easy to get carried away by a situation or just conform to familiarity and give the response.Mostly we just want to make the other person feel better and not paint ourselves as insensitive .How much would it hurt when someone found out that you only love them out of a habit.

The best book in 1st Corinthians 13:4-7 describes love as patient, love is kind ,it does not envy,it does not boast,it is not proud,it does not dishonor others it is not self seeking,it is not easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs .Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.Every utterance of the word love should at least have the above qualities.Let every mind that thinks love perceive it,let every heart that proclaims love mean it and let every tongue that utters ‘love’ show it .Change it from just being a habit to something that you believe in.I am not perfect in regards to 1st cor 13:4-7 am willing to.So what are you doing about it?

*LETS CULTIVATE TRUE LOVE CULTURE.

Mother tongue embrace.

Caroline G Muriuki.

mother-embrace-photo

Mother tongue is the language one is taught growing up by their parents .for some they are taught by society.A close look at your friends circle you will realize that most people do not know their native language. Many can not even make up a story based on their native languages.

Many people have invested a lot on other languages.Nowadays parents are investing a lot on schools that teach other languages  e.g  Chinese schools or German schools. Not so many parents will embrace their mother tongues thus their kids will take up a similar habit. Its sad for the new generation to ignore the existence of their native languages.

lets all embrace the mother tongues that we have.If given a chance speak it.It has many privileges than ever before .With the rise of many vernacular stations you might secure a job that you never thought of .Lets learn to embrace our native languages.Like the swahili proverb says “mwacha mila ni mtumwa” ,why be a slave rather than be a king in your mother language.

*Reign in your mother tongue*

Graduation culture craze.

Friday 14th ,joy, smiles and even tears marked this day.For many it was  a once in a lifetime experience. It also dawned on many that being in campus was not just a formality but a privilege.

Graduation has become  a culture.A way of living experienced by most people in this generation.Family &friends tag along to mark this milestone in your academic life in pomp and colour, but the crazy of it all is the job market .

I’ve heard students say ‘am studying but theres  no job  opportunity for me’ . I totally  disagree .  The bible states ‘out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh’ so when you believe  that there isn’t a job  for you ,not even a change in the order of nature can change your destiny.Your perception drives you to birth new ideas that fill an  niche in the job market. Its pointless to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. So try a different approach  and you’ll have a different testimony .

Given the power to read and do all that pertains to your degree, dare to be different after all it doesn’t hurt.Graduation is a milestone that only means you have a longer journey ahead so don’t cut it short before getting to the destination.
